This is Cyclotron City: home of the Hawking School of Astronautics and Astrophysics (Grades 4 – 7), an interplanetary boarding school. For generations, gifted boys and girls have studied within the halls of the Hawking School, learning all the principles and techniques required to become either a top-notch science hero, or a ruthless and evil space villain.

Characters:
The protagonist of our story is a fifth grader named Kid Gravity. He’s smart, brave, impulsive, and sometimes a little bit of a jerk: all the prerequisites to someday become one of the leading heroes of the galaxy. Like most boys his age (about 10), he’s interested in all the usual stuff: video games, sports, giant mutant space frogs with atomic breath, trading cards, etc. When Kid Gravity isn’t in the middle of saving the cosmos from evil alien robots, he’s usually getting into some kind of trouble at school.
Most notable among Kid Gravity’s classmates is a brash young girl by the name of Penny Galactica (sometimes known as "Pepper"). Penny majors in cybernetics and advanced robotic engineering. She also likes horses. She is completely unaware that she has a tendency to get on the nerves of all of her classmates; this is mostly due to the fact that she’s smarter than all of them.
Often found sitting alone together at lunch are the insufferably egotistical and snotty twins, Jetboy and Jetgirl. The two are low-level telepaths, and they share a psychic link with one another, leaving them too often finishing each other’s sentences - when they bother to speak at all, that is. Jetboy and Jetgirl are devout students of interstellar law and intergalactic politics. Which, in their age group, really doesn’t mean much more than that they are real sticklers for the rules of Four Square and Tetherball.
Then there’s the newest arrival to the school, the young alien known only as “New Kid” (his real name would require an extra five tongues to pronounce). The New Kid hails from a planet called Zarg, on the far side of the cosmos. He is interested in architecture, watercolor painting, the culinary arts and, of course, the complete subjugation of humanity. Even though at heart he is deeply, deeply evil, the other evil students often pick on New Kid, so (mainly for protection) he hangs out with Kid Gravity.
Kid Gravity’s arch nemesis is the number-one school bully, Kid Apocalypse. Ironically enough, Kid Apocalypse is actually a clone of Kid Gravity - only genetically reengineered to be evil. Or maybe it was the other way around. The two argue about it frequently. Kid Apocalypse aspires to someday conquer the universe and become the top space villain of all time. Despite his rivalry with Kid Gravity, the first enemy on his “get revenge” list is his fourth grade math teacher. Ever since the conversion to “new math”, he has vowed to always despise her above all others.
Uni (Short for Universal Fully Integrated Mobile Student Facsimile Version 5.1) is a sentient, robotic student often found in the company of Pepper Galactica. He runs on an ultra-terabyte chip with 6500 GHz EDRAM and contains an upgradeable optical card capable of 2.7 x 500 resolution. He is currently enrolled in the Hawking School, pursuing his graduation to Upgrade Status 6. When he reaches Upgrade Status 12, Uni will become a free member of the Robotic Institute (at which he was built) and will pursue his dream of opening a fast food restaurant.
